What Is Direct Primary Care?

Direct primary care (DPC) is a membership-based model with a low-cost monthly fee.  DPC aims to bring the patient back to the center of care and bring price transparency back into medicine. Some people compare it to a blend between Netflix and Costco for medicine.  Similar to unlimited movies on Netflix, patients pay a low monthly fee and have unlimited visits with the provider.  Similar to the cost savings with Costco, patients receive discounted medications, labs, and supplements.  Direct Primary Care

Patients who use DPC don’t pay monthly health insurance premiums or copays. They pay their healthcare provider a low-cost monthly fee. DPC providers don’t bill insurance companies, and they don’t accept any form of insurance. Most patients who use DPC are also enrolled in a high deductible health plan (HDHP).

Here’s everything you need to know about DPC, and if it’s right for you.
